Brachychiton rupestris – The Iconic Queensland Bottle Tree

The Queensland Bottle Tree (Brachychiton rupestris) is a stunning, drought-tolerant Australian native known for its distinctive swollen trunk, lush green foliage, and resilience in dry conditions. This medium to large deciduous tree can grow up to 10-20m tall and features a unique bottle-shaped trunk that develops as the tree matures, making it a standout feature in any landscape.

Perfect for Australian Gardens & Low-Maintenance Landscaping

This low-maintenance, hardy tree thrives in full sun and adapts well to a range of soil types, including poor, dry, and sandy soils. It is highly drought-tolerant and can survive extended dry periods once established, making it an excellent choice for water-wise gardens.

Striking Foliage & Seasonal Interest

The Queensland Bottle Tree produces glossy, deep green leaves, which drop in dry seasons or during winter, allowing sunlight through. In spring, it may develop small, bell-shaped yellowish flowers, adding seasonal interest.

Ideal for Feature Planting & Street Trees

This iconic tree is widely used as a statement feature in gardens, streetscapes, parks, and large properties. It is also highly valued for shade, windbreaks, and its architectural form, making it a top choice for native and drought-tolerant landscapes.
