Probably the best looking of the hedging bamboos, Alphonse Karr (Bambusa multiplex cv) Bamboo always attracts attention. Pinkish shoots become green-striped as they grow, with gorgeous yellow culms.
Spectacular bright yellow culms (poles) striped with green. The lower third of the clump remains leafless, presenting a tight fairly erect clump that bursts into a cap of fine distinctly arranged leaves. Makes an excellent living screen.
The young shoots and culms are a delicate green striped pink. A beautiful smaller bamboo for a garden setting reaching its full height only when grown in dense shade.
Also known as "Aussie Gold".
