Cordyline australis 'Red Star' commonly called the cabbage tree has long brownish-red to Burgandy sword-shaped rigid leaves. The year-round bright colour and architectural form make it a gorgeous feature plant for the garden or for a large accent pot. In a large patio pot, this cordyline gives a sophisticated look. As the plant matures, it develops a single central trunk, with the rosette of foliage growing on top. Once established, the Red Star is very hardy and will tolerate most growth conditions including coastal and dry periods, but does not like sitting in soggy soil.
