The majestic Dicksonia antarctica, commonly known as the Soft Tree Fern or Man Fern, is an evergreen tree fern native to eastern Australia. These grand plants can reach heights of up to 15m but typically grow around 4-5m in urban gardens with a dark green and roughly textured canopy spread out 2-6 metres in diameter! The unusual shapes vary from curved stems to multi headed ones - these stunning specimens produce new fronds in alternating layers for their fertile and sterile elements. It's fascinating that what appears like a trunk on this plant is merely made up of its previous growth; roots have formed through it allowing them access from the base into the soil below. What a gorgeous tree!

My Fiddly Fig has finally decided to have it's last tantrum - nothing made it happy and all the research and care I put into it came to nothing. Of all my plants, it is the most demanding. I ordered the Banyan Tree and it's tall! The bark is a beautiful silver and the leaves are strong - it is such a healthy, majestic plant. Hopefully the fiddly fig ups its game now there's a contender for my affections in the house (but knowing the fiddly fig, it'll probably drop another leaf in protest). Thank you for such a healthy, beautiful plant, sorry, tree! :)
