Common Name and Scientific Name: Liriodendron tulipifera, also known as the Tulip Tree.
Description: The Tulip Tree is a large deciduous tree that can grow up to 20-30 meters tall and 8-15 meters wide. It has a pyramidal shape with a straight trunk and a broad crown. The leaves are large, bright green, and shaped like tulips with four lobes. In autumn, they turn yellow and golden.
Growing Requirements: The Tulip Tree prefers well-drained soil that is slightly acidic and fertile. It can tolerate most soils but does not do well in waterlogged or compacted soils. It requires full sun to grow well and can tolerate partial shade.
Uses and Display: The Tulip Tree produces large yellowish-green flowers in spring that resemble tulips, hence its name. The flowers are solitary and sit in the extreme upper-most branches of the tree. It also has unique four-lobed leaves that turn yellow in autumn. The Tulip Tree is a magnificent specimen tree that would make an excellent addition to any garden or park. It provides ample shade during summer months and adds vibrant color to your garden in autumn.

What a gorgeous tree!

My Fiddly Fig has finally decided to have it's last tantrum - nothing made it happy and all the research and care I put into it came to nothing. Of all my plants, it is the most demanding. I ordered the Banyan Tree and it's tall! The bark is a beautiful silver and the leaves are strong - it is such a healthy, majestic plant. Hopefully the fiddly fig ups its game now there's a contender for my affections in the house (but knowing the fiddly fig, it'll probably drop another leaf in protest). Thank you for such a healthy, beautiful plant, sorry, tree! :)
